Stages of Human Growth

Human growth can refer to many things, but I like to think of growth as the stages of life that you go through. Stages like: infant to child to teenager to adult. The first few stages of growth are the childhood stages. After birth a child is considered an infant. In this stage an infant will build relationships with the birth mother from nursing as well as learn the beginning of the motor skills that is the basis for the rest of their life such as holding up their head and crawling. Eventually this stage leads to talking and walking as those skills develop.

Human Growth: The Infant State

After the infant stage, the child will enter the playful stage where children are playful, and begin to understand right from wrong and consequences to actions. Next the child will enter their adolescence period. In this stage they will learn more about the others around them as well as begin to develop their reproductive organs including breasts and penis as well as an increase in body or facial hair. Then the teenage years arrive, with sexual exploration as well as further development of the reproductive organs as well as more intense and deep relationships with friends, family, and adults. Teenage years are when many complex situations arise and teenagers build the foundation for their character over the rest of their life.

At the end of the teenage stage, development continues usually through some sort of college process or new workplace situations. It is around this 20 year old age that the adult will gain much more responsibility and have many more consequences to their actions. There still are many situations that will be new in this stage, but the concepts will have been built over the teenage years to know how to respond to these. Moving from the 20?s to the 30?s, feelings develop about nurturing and creating a family. In the 20's and 30's the adult begins to want for companionship and family more as they are separated from their parental part of their family. Marriage, pregnancy, and adoption are events that occur in these stages that setup the rest of your growth.

Human Growth: Adulthood

In those next middle aged? 10 to 20 years of growth, the adult will learn how to live with a spouse, and how to raise their own children. They will use their own experiences from when they were at their play age and adolescence to pass on their history, rules and struggles that they encountered.

Then the adult will reach the advanced age and growth slows down. They move their children into their young adult stage and they prepare for long term options for housing and care when needed. In this advanced stage, many adults can still lead very active lifestyles with good health and habits and possible live beyond 100 years. Then the entire cycle starts again with their children having children and it continues.

Human growth takes time and you are continually learning over your entire lifetime. Each stage of growth gets you through certain obstacles and teaches you different abilities, where finally in the later stages you can pass those on to new infants and teenagers.
