About Buck Knives
Buck Knives is positioned as a family-owned American brand with a focus on quality workmanship and ingenuity. While in the past the company had begun to outsource some of the work to foreign countries, they are now re-positioning their brand as 100% American in order to be able to put a "made in the USA" label back on their products. They have their factory in America, the family is American and they want to be considered an American brand. The brand is also currently extending its position in the market to include a variety of outdoor products.
History Of Buck Knives
Buck Knives is a family-owned operation that began in Kansas with a young blacksmith apprentice named Hoyt Buck. Hoyt Buck used his ingenuity to develop a method to temper steel better to maintain an edge more efficiently. He made the very first Buck Knife using this process in 1902. Hoyt Buck continued to work on this process, making new knives out of used and worn down blades. After World War II, Hoyt Buck and his son started H.H. Buck & Son in San Diego in 1947. Al, Hoyt Buck's son, continued the streak of ingenuity in the blade industry by creating a folding lockblade knife in 1964. Buck Knives continues its evolution today with third and fourth generation Buck family members.
