Airsoft Claymore Landmine Review:
SCORE: 9 out of 10 The Aisoft Claymore by Supercell is a very cool airsoft accessory for airsofters. Ours came pack nice and tight with no room for anything to break. With the same dimensions as the real thing, 8 1/2" L x 2" W x 3 3/4" H it is a great size and easy to carry and deploy. This landmine has a good weight and even though it is mostly rubberized plastic is does feels substantial. It comes with a full manual and a CD so that you can watch how everything should be done on your computer or DVD player, very cool for those who do not like to read instructions! Operation: The mine is spring powered and does not require any gas or batteries to operate. It has very few moving parts and nothing to break or loose accept maybe the safety pin but you could easily make another and the one supplied with the claynmore comes with a bright red ribbon so it is hard to loose! On the same key ring as the safety pin it comes with a trip wire pin. You stick it in the top of the mine and can run out a wire or cord for your enemy's to step on. When someone trips over the wire, it activates the mine and then flies off with the cord. That's what's really nice, it doesn't stay connected to the mine, so when someone trips the trip wire, the whole mine doesn't go with. It simply breaks free and the mine delivers its charge for the kill! Loading: Before loading you need to close up the mine. The cloth launcher inside folds neatly and the clam shell outer box latches closed and your can then ad the safety pin. There is a small bb feeder hole on the outside of one side that your can pour bbs directly into the mine, mix in some baby powder for added effect and you are ready to go. Firing: Firing is easy! You can fire this mine manually with a trip wire. Remotely with a hard wire detonator wired directly to the landmine or my favorite with the wireless key fob. The wireless detonator comes pre configured to fire two land mines at once and you save even more cash by buying two mines together! The remote seems to have a range of around 50' and with the wireless remote you can also set up the trip wire as a back up so even if you have to retreat, advance, or get eliminated, you can still eliminate the enemy! Rate of Fire: Well, Rate of fire on a Claymore Usually 1 explosion per its lifetime, but not this one! It's 100% reusable, and takes less than a minute to reload and set up! It's a very easy procedure, and you can master after the first time you use it. Performance: It holds 200+ Airsoft 6mm BBs. but by no means do you need to use that many, 5-50 cover perfectly. It will shoot Airsoft .20 g bbs over 60 feet!!! Its spread is a 30-45 degree radius. It makes a pretty neat/loud POP noise when it shoots open, and scares everyone, even when they know it's going to happen. Accuracy: It's a landmine! If you can't hit someone with 200 bb's with a hidden device, then you should just quit airsofting. It doesn't really have any accuracy except for everywhere in front of it! If you set it up right, it will get the job done, and it can take out an entire squad. 200 BB's can hit a lot of people! This is a great fun airsoft toy and will make you the hit at your next airsoft scrimmage! Click to Buy - AirSOCOM.com Friday, December 29. 2006USB Powered AirSoft Turret Project

Steve spent more than 14 years in the military. If you are looking for a pastime that will challenge you and let you spend the better part of a day outdoors in any kind of weather, then Airsoft is your game. Although it is relatively new to this area, Airsoft got started in the United States about 50 years ago and gained popularity in Japan and Europe in the 1980s. Played with weapons that shoot 6-millimeter plastic BBs, it is a war game long on strategy and short on injuries. Craig Whitaker, a 35-year-old plumber, organizes Airsoft games locally. He leases close to 340 acres on Slocomb Road, where he sets up military scenarios twice a month, usually on Saturdays. “We create and design a military game,” Whitaker said, “with objectives like war games. We have certain targets teams try to conquer and certain bases they need to attack and control. Sometimes we have collectors who bring real weapons. Recently, it was an anti-aircraft machine gun from World War II. “It was set out, and teams tried to destroy it. Or they try to disable radio communication centers we set up. That is accomplished by using mock grenades and smoke bombs that make a little bang sound, but do no damage.” Participants wear goggles and different types of camouflage dress. When a player is hit, he raises his hands and dons a red rag called a dead rag. “Dead” players may return to action after sitting out a short period. “Quite a few of the participants are currently in the military,” Whitaker said, “and some are former military. They were trained for this type of thing. We also have doctors, lawyers and people from all kinds of professions. “The strategy is the big thing; it’s not about shooting people. Airsoft is a fun way to do a combat-type experience without anyone getting hurt. We assign people to teams, or they can form their own teams, and they try to maneuver as squads.” Whitaker operates the only Airsoft field locally. Participants pay $10 for an event, which normally lasts five to seven hours. He tries to have two events per month. Players may be as young as 12 when accompanied by a parent. They must be 18 to purchase Airsoft guns. “I was a paintball player,” Whitaker said, “but I got tired of playing that. I wanted something more realistic and more serious. Airsoft is growing. I see us having hundreds of players to come out for an event in a year or two.” Steve Sorsch, 43, is a social worker who spent more than 14 years in the military. His son, Ian, got him hooked on Airsoft. “Ian tried to talk me into trying it a year and a half ago,” Sorsch said, “but I thought the guns were too expensive. Then I went with him (to play Airsoft) one day, and I loved it. “It is exciting, it gets me outside and I enjoy the teamwork and camaraderie. Airsoft is like the infantry tactics I learned when I was first in the military. I like working with others as a team. My son (who is 18) and I have linked up with this, and there aren’t a lot of things a parent has in common with a teenager.” Teams get separate briefings before an event begins, and field managers direct the teams toward the same areas so there is more action. “There is a lot of good problem-solving,” Sorsch said. “I did paintball years ago, and I find this is much more fun; it’s more like the military. It’s all about strategy and is almost like playing chess. “Afterward, we may go out, get a pizza and talk about the fun things that happened. It’s a great day.” Anyone interested in attending an Airsoft event may call Whitaker at (910) 578-4582 or e-mail him at coffee22@earthlink.net. Thad Mumau can be reached at mumaut@fayobserver.com. Monday, November 6. 2006Airsoft New Mexico Two New Oakflats Airsoft GamesNovember 12th, 2006: a reenactment of Da Nang in the Tet Offensive. http://www.airsoftnewmexico.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=1679 This is based on the battle at Da Nang Marine Air base, in the Tet Offensive. You may have seen this battle in the movie Full Metal Jacket. It is the first battle of the movie. Essentially: The town field is Da Nang MAC base. The center of it is a hospital. The goal of the VC/NVA forces is to attack the base using guerrilla tactics, and you cannot go within a TBD distance of the hospital. If hit in the arm or leg call for a medic and a medic will come (this is both sides) and heal you, which involves wrapping and taping gauze on the wounded area. If you are fatally wounded (torso, head) then go to the hospital (For C forces, in the forest) and you can remove all gauze, but keep it with you in case you get injured again and the medic is out of it. This game will not stop for lunch. Basically, we will take turns going to staging area for lunches or breaks, but there needs to always be a Marine force defending and an NV force attacking or planning to do so. If you want to play on the USA side, you need to dress like a period American. See the forum link for more details. -=-=-=-=-++-=-=-=-=- November 19th, 2006: Operation: Raging Storm http://www.airsoftnewmexico.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=1637 There might be some zombie action at Raging Storm, please see the forum for more details. -=-=-=-=-++-=-=-=-=- The standard Airsoft New Mexico Rule set applies to both: Field: Oak Flats Paintball. Directions, pictures, and information available from http://www.oakflatspaintball.com Field Fee: The Field Fee is $10 Per Person. Cash works best. Waivers: Everybody under the age of 18 will need have a completed a waiver. Meeting place: We first meet at Smith's on Tramway and Central @ 0900 hrs. We will be leaving at 0915, so don't get left. You may also drive straight to the field. ::What to bring:: Everybody needs to have the following: Eye Protection == Paintball masks are highly recommended. ANSI Rated Full seal Eyewear is required Water == You live in a desert. Bringing lunch is recommended too, there is no food nearby. Footwear == The terrain is rough, boots are very recommended. If you have an airsoft gun, bring it. There will be no rentals. You don't need an AEG, you can be competitive with a spring pistol. Bring BBs, Gas, Batteries, Magazines, and anything else you need for your guns. If you didn't bring it, it may not be there. If you have gear, you're more than welcome to bring it. Bring a good attitude, or you and others will not have a good time. This should be fun, remember that. For safety reasons, there ARE gun limitations: AEGs Under 1J are fine AEGs Under 400fps are allowed, with strict Minimum Engage Distance. We recommend bringing a sidearm with less power. ALL GUNS OVER 1.49J WILL NEED TO BE SCREENED BY AN EVENT ORGANIZER PRIOR TO THE GAME -=-=-=-=-++-=-=-=-=- Two Person Team Tournament Results: On October 28th ABQ Airsoft held its first tournament.
