Fantasy Daggers and Why People Collect Them

The world of collectible fantasy based weaponry has many individuals involved in the hobby. There is something to be said about holding elaborately crafted items such as swords or fantasy daggers in your hand. These replica or uniquely crafted weapons often have a rich story history in popular fictional narratives.

What Kind of People Collect Fantasy Daggers?

The type of people who collect fantasy daggers varies greatly. Some do so because the items look cool. There are others who collect them because they are linked to a favorite story or video game character or some other type of popular media. Another group of collectors will do so because they enjoy re-enactments or live action role-playing. The last group will collect them for spiritual purposes.

What Kind of Fantasy Daggers are There?

There are a wide variety of weapons of this type on the market. Some are simple viewing pieces that should hang on a wall but never be used. There are others that have elaborate or whimsical designs as well. However, these latter ones will sometimes be made of true combat worthy materials such as properly worked carbon steel.

Whether a combat worthy weapon or simply a showpiece these daggers are often beautiful works of art and many choose to collect them. There are daggers with Nordic or elven runes engraved on them. There are daggers with bejeweled hilts or the heady of a dragon or ram as the pommel.

The variety of possible pieces is staggering. Some are made of steel; others are made of silver or bronze. A few are even made of sharpened rock crystal and are intended to be magical in nature.

These well crafted, often museum quality fantasy replicas or creations, are used for a myriad of purposes. Some as mentioned previously are showpieces only and will sit in a case or mantle so that they can be viewed as the beautiful works of art they are. Some are capable of mock combat and feature in role playing or fantasy based re-enactments.

There is one use of these types of daggers that has nothing to do with viewing them in a case or role playing. This use is as a tool of ceremonial or nature based spiritual practices. Many pagan individuals of various sorts will often prefer a dagger or knife with runes engraved upon the blade or hilt. These types of fantasy tools work well with their mental processes and spiritual nature.

These weapons are well crafted items that bring wonder, magic, and whimsy into the life of anyone that owns one. They lend themselves well to role playing or spiritual pursuits and they look quite awesome while doing such.
