Weapons and Characters of D Gray Man

D Gray Man is an anime series based on the manga of the same name. It takes place in an alternate world that shares many characteristics with Victorian era Earth, but technology is more advanced. This world features terrible monsters known as Akuma that are created by the Millennium Earl. The Akuma are evolving machines animated by lingering souls into monsters that consume people to grow stronger. The Millennium Earl is an ancient and mysterious character who intends to destroy the world with his monsters.

The story mainly follows the adventures of Allen Walker, a fifteen year old boy, who joins the organization the Black Cross to fight the monstrous but mechanical Akuma. He is one of the Exorcists, people who can use a substance known as Innocence to manifest incredible powers or weapons to kill the Akuma. Allen Walker is special because he can see the Akuma, even when they are disguised as humans, with his cursed left eye. Other main characters include Kanda Yuu, a katana wielding exorcist with a mysterious past, and Lenalee Lee, a young woman who uses the Innocence as a pair of extraordinary boots. There are also many interesting and eccentric characters in D Gray man that run the research and scientific labs for the Black Order.

D Gray man Weapon Replicas

The only traditional weapon common in the D Gray man series is Kanda Yuu's Mugen, a blade empowered with Innocence that slashes right through Akuma. It is a katana that glows silver when activated, and has three illusion based attacks. Unconventional weapons are often also available as replicas. One example is character Lavi's hammer Tettsui, which can grow to massive proportions on command uses elemental seals for extra powerful attacks. Allen Walker's main anti-Akuma weapon is his left arm, but when he grows powerful enough he is able to produce a large sword from it.
