History Of Maglite

Anthony Maglica, Owner and President of Mag Instrument Inc, created the Maglite flashlight himself. The company was founded in 1955 after Maglica saved for months for a $125 lathe. He began making parts for various industries. He was successful in driving down production costs and increasing output. His business grew and he released the Maglite flashlight in 1979. Mechanics and emergency crews began raving about how well the Maglite helped them in their daily jobs. The Mini Maglite was released in 1984. After that, applications were made specifically for medical professionals and even for key rings.
