Smith and Wesson

Smith & Wesson is one of the largest manufacturers of handguns in the U.S. Since 1852 Smith & Wesson has been an innovative producer of firearms and is perhaps best known for its line of revolvers. The S&W Schofield was the first production revolver to use a top break action which allowed for faster loading. Police units all over the U.S. adopted their model 10 and later the model 28 which both used a swing out cylinder for easy loading. Smith &Wesson was also the maker of the model 29 .44 magnum made famous by its appearance in the film Dirty Harry. The S&W 500 revolver is on of the most powerful handguns in production today, firing a massive .50 caliber round. Smith & Wesson now produces a full line of firearms including rifles, shotguns, and semiautomatic pistols. S&W semiautomatic pistols are very popular among police and security forces because of their reliability and safety.
